Description
Theory:
The WSET Level 2 course offers you an introduction to the world of beer. In class, you will learn about the main raw materials such as malt, hops, yeast, and water, the different styles of beer, and their production processes.
All the theoretical knowledge you need to pass the exam can be found in the textbook and study guide that will be provided. The textbook is slim but very comprehensive. Each paragraph contains relevant information, so there is a reasonable amount of knowledge to absorb.
Tasting:
In both classes, we will begin with systematic beer tasting, sampling six styles in each session. Your instructor will guide you step by step through the tasting technique, which becomes more extensive with each successive level of the WSET courses.
In Level 1, we start with the basics so that each student can become comfortable with this method. Beer tasting is not part of the exam.
Exam:
The WSET Level 1 Beer exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions. At least 21 of these must be answered correctly to pass. We offer the opportunity to retake the exam at least twice a year.
